Can you name the devices in the two boxes below? Work with a friend. Write down at least three uses of each of the devices:

Apurba and Anees came to their teacher with a complaint. “Ma’am, a few of our classmates are peeping through the window of the ICT lab. The seniors are working there.”

অপূর্ব এবং আনিস একটি অভিযোগ সঙ্গে সিহঁতৰ শিক্ষক কাষৰলৈ আহে।“ম্যাদাম, আমাৰ কিছুমান সহপাঠীয়ে খিৰিকীৰে আইসিটি ল্যাবটিৰ ভুমুকিয়া আছে। প্রবীণ লোক সকলে তাত কার্য কৰি আছে।

Reetwika Ma’am looked at the two pupils. She smiled at them and said, “Is that as? Do you also want to see what is going on at the lab?”

ৰীত্বিকা ম্যাম সেই দুজন বিদ্যার্থীলৈ দৃষ্টি দিয়া. তেখেতে বিদ্যার্থীটোলৈ হাঁহি মাৰি ক’লে কি, “হয় নে সেইটো? তোমালোকে দেখিব বিচাৰিচানে ল্যাবটিত কি চলিছে?”

“Yes, Ma’am!” they responded cheerfully. The teacher promised to take their class to the lab that afternoon.

“হয়, ম্যাম!” তেওলোকে প্রফুল্লভাবে উত্তৰ দিলে। শিক্ষকে আবেলি সেই শ্রেণীক ল্যাবটিৰলৈ নিবলৈ প্রতিশ্রুত দিলে।

Ma’am       : Hello everyone! Let’s begin with a question. Can anyone tell me the name of this lab?

ম্যাম          :  ওহে মহাশয়া! এটা প্ৰশ্ন দিয়ে আৰম্ভ কৰো। কোনোবাই কব পাৰিবানে এই ল্যাবটিৰ নাম?

Anees        : ICT lab Ma’am.

আনিস       : আইসিটি ল্যাব ম্যাম।

Ma’am       :  What is the full form of ICT? Anyone?

ম্যাম          :  আইসিটি সম্পূর্ণ নাম কি? কোনোবাই কব পাৰিবানে?

Apurba      : Sorry Ma’am, I don’t know.

অপূর্ব     : দুঃখিত ম্যাম, আমি নাজানো.

Ma’am       : ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. Will you remember it?

ম্যাম     : আইসিটি সম্পূৰ্ণ নামটো হ’ল ইম্ফর্মেশন এণ্ড টেক্নালজজী। তোমালোকে মনত ৰাখিবানে?

Hari          : Yes, Ma’am, Information and Communication Technology.

হৰি      : হয়, ম্যাম, ইম্ফর্মেশন এণ্ড টেক্নালজজী।

Ma’am       : Now let’s look at the projection screen. What do you see on the screen?

ম্যাম :    এতিয়া আমি প্রজেকশন স্ক্রিনত দৃষ্টি দিয়া। সেই  স্ক্রিনত কি দেখিছা?

Sapna       :  There are computers, a laptop, a mobile phone and a radio.

স্ৱপ্না         : তাত বহুত কম্পিউটাৰ, এটা ল্যাপটপ, এটা মবাইলফোন আৰু এটা ৰেডিও আছে।

Majoni       : There is a tall tower and a satellite.

মাজনী    : তাত এটা লম্বা টাওয়াৰ আৰু এটা উপগ্রহ আছে।

Ma’am       : Very good! Besides these, there is a server in the picture.

ম্যাম      : খুব ভাল! ইয়াৰ তদুপৰি, ছবিখনত এটা সার্ভাৰ আছে।

Hari          : Yes, Ma’am.

হৰি           : হয়, ম্যাম।

Ma’am       : Can anyone tell me some of the uses of computer?

ম্যাম          : কোনোবাই ক’ব পাৰিবানে কম্পিউটাৰ ব্যৱহাৰ কত কৰে?

Anees        : We use computer to draw, calculate and play online games.

Apurba      : Sometimes we watch movies too.

Ma’am       : Very good! A computer can perform many other tasks. You can design, compose edit, download and save images and audio-video materials.

ম্যাম      : খুব ভাল!কম্পিউটাৰে বিভিন্ন কার্য সম্পূর্ণ কৰে। ইয়াৰ যোগেদি ছবি তৈয়াৰ কৰা, লেখা সম্পাদন কৰা, গঠন কৰা, আৰু ছবি ডাউনলোড কৰাত সহায় হ্য়।

Sapna       : Madam, can we do similar things on our mobile phones? I have seen my brother once recite and record a poem on his mobile phone. He sent it to his English teacher for her comments.

Ma’am       : In fact, that is good example of the use of ICT. Like computers, a smartphone is a digital device that can perform similar functions. For most of these tasks, the computer and the mobile phone require internet connectivity.

ম্যাম     : সঁচাকে এটো আইসিটি ব্যৱহাৰৰ এটা ভাল উদাহৰণ। কম্পিউটাৰৰ দৰে, স্মার্টফোনো এটা ডিজিটাল যন্ত্র হয় যিয়ে কম্পিউটাৰৰ দৰে কাম কৰে। বেশিৰভাগ কার্যৰ কাৰণে ইণ্টাৰনেট সংযোগ প্রয়োজন।

Anees        : Madam, are both the computer and the mobile phone ICT?

আনিস       : মডাম, কম্পিউটাৰ আৰু মবাইলফোন দুইটা আইসিটিনে?

Ma’am       : They are ICT devices that use technology to create, collect, process and manage information.

ম্যাম     : সেইবোৰ হ’ল আইসিটিৰ যন্ত্র যাৰ সহায়তে তথ্য সৃষ্টি, প্রক্রমণ, গ্রহণ আৰু নিয়ন্ত্ৰণ কৰা হয়।

Mary         : Madam, what are the seniors doing in the lab?

মেৰি     : মডাম, জ্যেষ্ঠ ছাত্রসকলে ল্যাবত কি কৰি আছে?

Ma’am       : Here they learn about hardware and software components of a computer. They also learn to use ICT for their studies.

ম্যাম     : ইয়াত সিহঁতে কম্পিউটাৰৰ হাৰ্ড্ৱেৰ আৰু সোফ্ট্ৱেৰ উপাদান সমূহ শিকিব পাৰে।   ইয়াৰ উপৰিও সিহঁতে ICT কেনেকৈ ব্যৱহাৰ কৰিব পাৰি শিক্ষা বাবে সেইয়াও জ্ঞান লাভ কৰে।

Mary         :  Ma’am, could you tell us more about ICT?

মেৰি      : ম্যাম, আইসিটি বিষয় আৰু ক,ব পাৰিব নেকি?

Ma’am       : Of course. It is the use of technology to communicate information at a very fast speed and with accuracy. For example, a computer requires internet connectivity to enable searching for information. There are applications called search engines or browsers like Google or Yahoo that we use to search for information. These search engines take you to various websites containing information for your specific questions.

ম্যাম      : হয় পাৰিম। প্রযুক্তিবিদ্যা জৰিয়তে মানুহে ভাব তথ্য আদিৰ আদান-প্ৰদান কৰিব পাৰে। ইয়াৰ উদাহৰণ হ’ল,কম্পিউটাৰে ইণ্টাৰনেটৰ জৰিয়্তে তথ্য বিচাৰ কৰিব পাৰে। ইয়াত বিভিন্ন ঐপলিকেশন আছে যেনে গুগল ব্রাউজাৰ বা ইয়াহু যাৰ জৰিয়তে তথ্য বিচাৰিব পাৰি। এইবিলাকৰ জৰিয়তে বিভিন্ন ওয়েবসাইট যাব পাৰি যত সকলো  প্রশ্ন সমূহৰ তথ্য বিচাৰি পাৰি।

Hari          : I have played online games. But how do we use ICT for studies?

হাৰি     : মই অনলাইন গেমবোৰ খেলিছিলো। কিন্তু আমি আইসিটি শিক্ষাৰ বাবে কেনেকৈ ব্যৱহাৰ কৰিব পাৰো?

·        Ma’am       : In many ways, actually. For example, if you are asked to do a project on English grammar, you’ll be able to use ICT skills to locate, access and gather information from websites like www.cambridggeenglish.org or www.oxfordonlineenglish.com  Let’s visit the ICT lab tomorrow. I will show you ways in which ICT can help us learn English grammar.
