Answer: The young man praises the woman In the poem. Annes honey coloured hair have been called rampart, meaning a wall. Because they act as a wall, as they prevent young man from looking beyond those yellow hair and into her soul. She is so pretty that everyone wants her, which can not happen; hence they are thrawn into despair.

Answer: Anne has yellow colour hair like the colour honey. She can changed its colour to black, brown as carrot whenever she wants. She says so to show that auter beauty is changeable but not the inner beauty. She wants young men to look into her soul and inner beauty.

4. What about people? Do we love others because we like their qualities whether physical or mental? Or is it possible to love someone “for themselves alone”? Are some people ‘more lovable’ than others? Discuss this question in pairs or in groups, considering points like the following.

Answer: Every people have their own perspective whether in care of love or other things. AS humans we all have our personal favourites based on our perception & situation in like. Therefore, it is not wrong to like some person more than others.

Summary

                    The poem is basically a conversation between the poet, yeats and a young girl named Anne Gregory. The poet tells her that if she finds a young boy who becomes sad because of rejection, it does not mean that he was true lover. He called have been in love with her because of her beautiful yellow hair. This means that the boy might be in love with her because of her attractive looks. He says that a true lover will be the one who will love her for her inner qualities & not her looks. To this, Anne says that she will change her looks by dying her hair into some other colour. She will become less attractive and then may be she will find a true love for herself. So at last he explains to her that the previous night, he had heard come religious man saying that only God loves us for what we are, means God loves us for our inner beauty not for our looks.
