Definition of Personality
According to Allport
“Personality is the dynamic organization within the individual of those psychological systems that determine his unique adjustment to his environment.”
In simple words, personality is the unique combination of a person’s physical, mental, emotional, and social qualities that make him/her different from others.
Nature of Personality
1.Dynamic: Personality keeps changing and developing throughout life.
2. Unique: Every individual has a different personality.
3. Integrated: It is a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and social traits.
4. Develops through experience: Environment and learning influence personality.
5. Consistent behaviour: A person shows some stable patterns of behaviour.
Development of Personality
Personality develops through the interaction of heredity and environment.
Heredity:Traits like intelligence, physique, and temperament are inherited from parents.
Environment: Family, school, society, culture, and experiences shape behaviour.
Education and experience: Learning, training, and life experiences improve personality.
Social interaction: interaction with others helps in developing social behaviour and attitudes.
Types of Personality
