The Sky is Falling (আকাশখন খহি পৰিছে)

Once upon a time, there lived a rabbit in a forest. It was very timid. It would tremble even at the slightest sound. On a sunny morning, he was having a nap under a mango tree. Suddenly, a ripe mango fell from the tree on its head. “Ouch…!! What was that?” He was startled. He looked around but could not find anything. He jumped up in fright and started to run. The timid rabbit thought that the sky had hit him. He cried aloud, “Oh my God! The sky is falling. Run fast, run fast, save your life.”(এসময়ত এখন হাবিত এটা শহাপহু বাস কৰিছিল। সি বৰ ভয়াতুৰ আছিল। সামান্য শব্দতো সি কঁপি উঠিছিল। এদিন ৰাতিপুৱা ৰ’দঘাই বতৰত সি এজোপা আম গছৰ তলত টোপনি মাৰি আছিল। হঠাৎ গছৰ পৰা এটা পকা আম তাৰ মূৰত সৰি পৰিল। “আহ…!! সেইটো কি আছিল?” সি উচপ খাই উঠিল। সি চাৰিওফালে চালে কিন্তু একো দেখা নাপালে। ভয়তে সি জঁপিয়াই উঠিল আৰু দৌৰিবলৈ ধৰিলে। ভয়াতুৰ শহাপহুটোৱে ভাবিলে যে আকাশখনে তাক খুন্দা মাৰিছে। সি ডাঙৰকৈ চিঞৰিলে, “হে ভগৱান! আকাশখন খহি পৰিছে। বেগাই দৌৰা, বেগাই দৌৰা, নিজৰ প্ৰাণ ৰক্ষা কৰা।”)

 A small squirrel was busy collecting nuts. He wasted no time. Grabbing the nuts, he also started to run away. The birds on the tree also heard the rabbit shouting and they too started to fly along with them. Soon all the animals of the forest-foxes, wolves, deer, elephants, leopards, and monkeys followed them shouting with all their might. When the king saw all the animals rushing towards his den, he too became anxious. He wanted to know why all the animals were running in that strange manner. The lion king asked, “What happened? Why are you all frightened? I am surprised at your strange behaviour. The timid rabbit said to the king, “Your Majesty, the sky is falling! We are searching for a safe place. Where will we go? Please, do something for us.” The king of the forest asked, “Where did you see the sky falling?” The rabbit said, “I was sleeping under a mango tree, Your Majesty. The king asked each of the animals one by one if they had seen the sky falling. The animals replied in one voice – “No, your Majesty!” The king then ordered all the animals to follow him. “Let’s go to the mango tree under which the rabbit was sleeping.” All the animals followed the king. On reaching the spot, he saw a mango lying on the ground. Immediately, the Lion King understood what had happened. He picked up the mango and said to the animals, “Ha! Ha! Ha! This is the sky which fell from the tree and hit the head of the rabbit.” The Lion King cleared his throat and said in a majestic voice, “Don’t we all know that the rabbit is timid and he’s scared of everything!
