Answer:- Usha, Binya and Suresh afraid of ghosts because of the story of the ruins told by Usha’s grandfather. So they had fear in mind about ghosts. That’s why Usha mistook Binya and Suresh were ghosts. In fact, there was no ghost. Because of the wind the top of the plum tree moving and they thought it was a waving hand and bid them and the chilling sound of wind was interpreted by them as good bye.
