I found a shell, a curly one, 

এটা খোলা পাইছিলোঁ, এটা কোঁচা,

Lying on the sand, 

বালিৰ ওপৰত পৰি থকা,

I picked it up and took it home, 

তুলি লৈ ঘৰলৈ লৈ গলো,

Cold inside my hand.

হাতৰ ভিতৰত ঠাণ্ডা।

Mummy looked at it and then 

মমীয়ে চালে আৰু তাৰ পিছত

She held it to my ear, 

তাই মোৰ কাণত ধৰি ৰাখিলে,

And from the shell there came a song. 

আৰু খোলাটোৰ পৰা এটা গীত আহিল।

Soft and sweet and clear.

কোমল আৰু মিঠা আৰু স্পষ্ট।

I was surprised - I listened hard, 

মই আচৰিত হ’লোঁ - মই কঠোৰভাৱে শুনিলোঁ,

But it was really true, 

কিন্তু সঁচাকৈয়ে সঁচা আছিল,

I wish you'd find a nice big shell 

এটা ধুনীয়া ডাঙৰ খোলা বিচাৰি পালে ভাল আছিল

And hear it singing too!
