                                  My Shadow

                                        मेरी छाया   

  I have a little shadow that goes

मेरे पास एक छोटी सी छाया है जो जाती है

                    in and out with me.

                    मेरे साथ अंदर और बाहर.

And what can be the use of him is

और उसका क्या उपयोग हो सकता है

                    more than I can see.

                    जितना मैं देख सकता हूँ उससे अधिक.

He is very, very like me from the

वह बिल्कुल मेरे जैसा ही है

                    heels up to the head;

                    एड़ी सिर तक;

And I see him jump before me,

और मैं उसे अपने सामने कूदते हुए देखता हूँ,

                   When I jump into my bed.    

                   जब मैं अपने बिस्तर में कूदता हूँ. 

                                                The funniest thing about him is the way

                                                उनके बारे में सबसे मजेदार बात है उनका तरीका

                                                                                            he likes to grow

                                                                                            उसे बढ़ना पसंद है

                                                Not at all like proper children, which is

                                                बिल्कुल भी उचित बच्चों की तरह नहीं, जो कि है

                                                                                           always very slow;

                                                For he sometimes shoots up taller like an

                                                                                            India-rubber ball,

                                                And he sometimes gets so little that

                                                                                            There's none of him at all.

                                                One morning, very early, before the

                                                एक सुबह, बहुत जल्दी, उससे पहले

                                                                                             sun I was up,

                                                                                              सूरज मैं ऊपर था,

                                                I rose and found the shining dew

                                                 मैं उठा और चमकती हुई ओस पाई

                                                                                             on every buttercup;

                                                                                            हर बटरकप पर;

                                                But my lazy little shadow, like an

                                                लेकिन मेरी आलसी छोटी छाया, एक की तरह

                                                                                              arrant sleepyhead.

                                                                                                अरान्ट स्लीपीहेड।

                                                Had stayed at home behind me and was

                                                मेरे पीछे घर पर रुका था और था

                                                                                             Fast asleep in bed.

                                                                                              बिस्तर पर गहरी नींद.
