A boy and an Old Man

এজন ল'ৰা আৰু এজন বৃদ্ধ ব্যক্তি

Barun is a little boy. Everybody calls the sweet boy Mon. 

বৰুন এটা সৰু ল’ৰা হয়. সকলোৱে তাক মৰম লগা ল’ৰা মৌন বুলি মাতে.

    Mon loves to walk around the village. His village is green and beautiful. Mon plays with birds. He chases butterflies. He runs around the paddy field.

মনে গাওঁ চাৰিওঁফালে খোজঁ কাঢ়ি ভাল পায়. তাৰ গাওঁখন সেউজীয়া আৰু ধুনীয়া হয়. মৌনে চৰাই লগত খেলি ভাল পায়. সি পখিলাবোৰক খেদি ফুৰে. সি বোকা মাটিৰ চাৰিওঁফালে দৌৰি ফুৰে. 

Everyday Mon meets an old man . He knows the old man.

প্ৰতিদিনে মনে এজন বৃদ্ধ লোকক লগ পায়। তেওঁ বৃদ্ধজনক জানে।

 He is the grand-father of Kanika. Kanika reads in class three. She is Mon's classmate .

তেওঁ কণিকাৰ দাদা। কণিকাই তৃতীয় শ্ৰেণীত পঢ়ে। তাই মনৰ সহপাঠী।

    There is a big tree in front of Kanika's house. Usually the old man sits under the tree. One day Mon came to the old man. He asked , "Grand-father, you always sit here in the afternoon, why?"

    কনিকাৰ ঘৰৰ সন্মুখত এজোপা ডাঙৰ গছ আছে। সাধাৰণতে বুঢ়াজন গছৰ তলত বহি থাকে। এদিন মন আহিল বুঢ়াৰ ওচৰলৈ। সি সুধিলে , "দাদা-দেউতা, দুপৰীয়া সদায় ইয়াত কিয় বহি থাকে?"

    The old man smiled and replied, "Because I love to be here". Mon asked again, "But why?" The old man said, "I planted this tree sixty years ago. I was a child then. So, I love the tree. The tree is my friend ".

    বুঢ়াজনে হাঁহি এটা মাৰি উত্তৰ দিলে, "কাৰণ মই ইয়াত থাকি ভাল পাওঁ"। মনে আকৌ সুধিলে, "কিন্তু কিয়?" বুঢ়াই ক'লে, "মই এই গছজোপা ষাঠি বছৰ আগতে ৰোপণ কৰিছিলো। তেতিয়া মই সৰু আছিলো। গতিকে, গছজোপা ভাল পাওঁ। গছজোপা মোৰ বন্ধু।"

    Mon asked , Why did you plant one tree only?" The old man replied, No , I planted many trees . I liked planting trees . Trees are like my children. I watered all the saplings".

    Mon was eager to know, Why did you plant trees?" The old man replied, Because all trees are useful to us. Trees keep our place cool and beautiful. They give shade. They provide food and shelter to birds and animals. We get tasty fruits from trees. Trees give out oxygen to us". Mon asked again, "What tree is this? "

মনটো জানিবলৈ আগ্ৰহী আছিল, কিয় গছ ৰোপণ কৰিলা?" বুঢ়াই উত্তৰ দিলে, কাৰণ সকলো গছ আমাৰ বাবে উপযোগী। গছবোৰে আমাৰ ঠাইখন ঠাণ্ডা আৰু সুন্দৰ কৰি ৰাখে। ছাঁ দিয়ে। চৰাই-চিৰিকটি আৰু জীৱ-জন্তুবোৰক খাদ্য আৰু আশ্ৰয় প্ৰদান কৰে। আমি গছৰ পৰা সুস্বাদু ফল। গছে আমাক অক্সিজেন দিয়ে". মনে আকৌ সুধিলে, "এইটো কি গছ?"

"This is a neem tree. It has many good qualities. Its leaves are bitter, but they are medicines. A neem tree helps to make the air fresh."

    Mon paused for a while. Then he said, "Grand-father, tomorrow is Sunday. I will come to you. I want to plant some saplings. Will you guide me?"

মন অলপ সময় থমকি ৰ’ল। তাৰ পিছত ক'লে, "দাদা, কাইলৈ ​​দেওবাৰ। মই তোমাৰ ওচৰলৈ আহিম। মই কিছুমান গছপুলি ৰোপণ কৰিব বিচাৰো। তুমি মোক গাইড কৰিবানে?"

    The old man nodded, "Certainly, why not? But only planting trees is not enough. You will have to take good care of them. Which tree will you plant?"

বুঢ়াই মাত দিলে, "নিশ্চয়, কিয় নহয়? কিন্তু কেৱল গছপুলি ৰোপণ কৰাটোৱেই যথেষ্ট নহয়। আপুনি সেইবোৰ ভালদৰে চোৱা-চিতা কৰিব লাগিব। কোনটো গছ ৰোপণ কৰিব?"

    "Grand-father, I like mangoes. And neem tree makes air fresh. So, I will plant neem and mango saplings. Don't worry, I will take good care of them."

    "দাদা, মই আম ভাল পাওঁ। আৰু নিম গছে বায়ু সতেজ কৰে। গতিকে, মই নিম আৰু আমৰ গছপুলি ৰোপণ কৰিম। চিন্তা নকৰিব, মই সেইবোৰ ভালদৰে চোৱাচিতা কৰিম।"

The old man smiled, "Yes, my child, I know you. You will do it. " Mon left the place.
