The Ball poem
1.Why does the poet say, “ I would not intrude on him” ? Why doesn’t he offer him money to buy a another ball ?

Ans : The poet says I would not intrude on him because he doesn’t want to interfere in the natural process of learning . He wants the boy to learn the meaning of loss on his own .
He doesn’t offer him money to buy a another ball because that would be worthless . He wants the boy to learn the lesson of responsibility.

Ans : Yes , the boy has had the ball for a long time . When it bounced into the water , all his memories of the days of childhood flashed in front of him . This lead to a realization that those moments would not come back just like the ball . He can have a new ball and can create new moments but those that are gone would not return.

3. What does “in the world of possession” mean ?

Ans : “In the world of possession” means that the world is full of materialistic things . The poet suggests that losing the ball , which is very small thing would make the boy understand what it is like to loss something that one possessed.

Ans: We all have something goods in our life which are very dearest to us . Like all other around . I had my one dearest pen , which is very close to my heart . That pen was given to me as the first ink pen when I was in lower school . Being a child at that time I adore that pen a lot . I always carried it with me . One day in school I lost my favourite pen and that made me crying . I came back to home with a heavy heart . The picture of the pen came into my mind frequently . Then my parents asked me the cause of my sadness . After I told them about the lost of my special ink pen , They told this in the world of possession nothing is permanent , loss is a part of life . So to get over the sense of loss we need to realise our responsibility of taking care of things . Through the loss of that I leaned a lesson of responsibility.
