Chapter 7
The last leaf
1. What is Johnsy's illness? What can cure her, the medicine or the willingness to live?
(জনচিৰ অসুস্থতা কি? কিহে তাইক, ঔষধ বা জীয়াই থকাৰ ইচ্ছা আৰোগ্য কৰিব পাৰে?)
Answer:- Jansi is suffering from pneumonia. Her will to live can cure her. Her doctor said it looked like she had made up her mind that she couldn't recover. "If she doesn't want to live, the medicine doesn't work," he said.
2. Do you think the feeling of depression Johnsy has is common among teenagers?
(আপুনি ভাবেনে যে শিশুসকলৰ মাজত জনচিৰ হতাশাৰ অনুভূতি সচৰাচৰ দেখা যায়?)
Answer:- Yes, I think Jansi's feelings of desperation are common among teenagers these days. Teenagers today are in a constant race to make the most of their lives. They live a lifestyle that is weighed down by the pressure to be the best in every aspect. They worry more about their professional lives and pay less attention to their personal nutrition.
3. Behrman has a dream. What is it? Does it come true?
(বেহৰমানৰ এটা সপোন আছে। এইটো কি? এইটো সঁচা নেকি?)
Answer:- Behrman is a sixty-year-old painter. His lifelong dream was to paint a masterpiece. Yes, this finally comes true when he paints the last leaf on the ivy vine and painting that last leaf looks true.
4. What is Behrman's masterpiece? What makes Sue say so?
(বেহৰমানৰ উৎকৃষ্ট কৃতি কি? চুক কিহে এনেকুৱা ক'বলৈ বাধ্য কৰে?)
Answer:- Johnsie said she would die if the last leaf fell from the ivy vine. When Behrman heard this from Chu, he secretly drew a leaf on the vine as the last leaf fell.
Unaware that the leaf he was looking at was a painting, Johnsy felt inspired to see that the last leaf was still attached to the vine. She felt enterprising and developed a will to survive.
Therefore, the last leaf drawn by Behrman was a masterpiece. This rekindled Johnsie’s desire to fight and live with her illness. Therefore, Nechu said that the last leaf was Behrman's masterpiece.
