কবিতাটোৰ কথা চিন্তা কৰি

1. (i) Find, in the first stanza, three things that cannot happen in a treeless forest.

১) (i) গছবিহীন অৰণ্যত হ’ব নোৱাৰা তিনিটা কথা প্ৰথম স্তৱকত বিচাৰক।

  (ii)  What picture do these words create in your mind: "... sun bury its feet in shadow..."? What could the poet mean by the sun's 'feet'?

(ii) এই শব্দবোৰে আপোনাৰ মনত কি ছবি সৃষ্টি কৰে: "... সূৰ্য্যই নিজৰ ভৰি ছাঁত পুতি পেলায়..."? সূৰ্য্যৰ ‘ভৰি’ বুলি কবিয়ে কি বুজাব পাৰিলেহেঁতেন?

3. (i) How does the poet describe the moon: (a) at the beginning of the third stanza, and (b) at its end? What causes this change?

    (iii) Why do you think the poet does not mention "the departure of the forest from the house" in her letters? (Could it be that we are often silent about important happenings that are so unexpected that they embarrass us? Think about this again when you answer the next set of questions.) 

(iii) কবিয়ে চিঠিবোৰত "ঘৰৰ পৰা অৰণ্যৰ প্ৰস্থান"ৰ কথা কিয় উল্লেখ কৰা নাই বুলি ভাবে? (এইটো হ’ব পাৰেনে যে আমি প্ৰায়ে ইমানেই অপ্ৰত্যাশিত হৈ থকা গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ পৰিঘটনাবোৰৰ বিষয়ে নিমাত হৈ থাকোঁ যে ই আমাক লজ্জিত কৰে? পৰৱৰ্তী প্ৰশ্নৰ উত্তৰ দিলে এই বিষয়ে আকৌ এবাৰ ভাবি চাওক।)

4. Now that you have read the poem in detail, we can begin to ask what the poem might mean. here are two suggestions. Can you think of others?

৪/ এতিয়া যেতিয়া আপুনি কবিতাটো বিতংভাৱে পঢ়িছে, তেতিয়া আমি কবিতাটোৰ অৰ্থ কি হ’ব পাৰে বুলি সুধিবলৈ আৰম্ভ কৰিব পাৰো। ইয়াত দুটা পৰামৰ্শ দিয়া হৈছে। আপুনি আনৰ কথা ভাবিব পাৰেনে?

Ans. 

(i) Does the poem present a conflict between man and nature? Compare it used for 'interior decoration' in cities while forests are cut down, are 'imprisoned', and need to 'break out'?

(ঝ) কবিতাটোত মানুহ আৰু প্ৰকৃতিৰ মাজত সংঘাত উপস্থাপন কৰা হৈছেনে? চহৰবোৰত ‘অভ্যন্তৰীণ সজ্জা’ৰ বাবে ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা তুলনা কৰক, আনহাতে বনাঞ্চলবোৰ কাটি পেলোৱা হৈছে, ‘বন্দী’ কৰা হৈছে, আৰু ‘ব্ৰেক আউট’ কৰাৰ প্ৰয়োজন আছে?

Ans. 

(ii) On the other hand , Adrienne Rich has been know to use trees as a metaphor of human beings; this is a recurrent image in her poetry. What new meanings emerge from the poem if you take its trees to be symbolic of this particular meaning?

(ii) আনহাতে , এড্ৰিনে ৰিচে গছক মানুহৰ উপমা হিচাপে ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা বুলি জনা গৈছে; এইটো তাইৰ কবিতাত পুনৰাবৃত্তিমূলক প্ৰতিচ্ছবি। কবিতাটোৰ গছবোৰক এই বিশেষ অৰ্থৰ প্ৰতীক বুলি ধৰিলে কবিতাটোৰ পৰা কি কি নতুন অৰ্থ ওলাই আহে?

5. You may read the poem 'Oh killing a Tree' by Given Patel (Beehive- Textbook in English for class ix, NCERT). Compare and contrast it  with the poem you have just read.
