1. Let's find out how much we have understood:

আসুন জেনে নিই আমরা কতটা বুঝতে পেরেছি:

(a) What is a Hobby?

শখ কী?

Ans: Activities which give us fun and joy are hobby.

উত্তর: যেসব কার্যকলাপ আমাদের আনন্দ এবং আনন্দ দেয় সেগুলোকে শখ বলে।

(b) What do hobbies gives us?

শখ আমাদের কী দেয়?

Ans: Hobbies Gives Us fun and joy, fit and Active.

উত্তর: শখ আমাদের মজা এবং আনন্দ দেয়, আমাদের ফিট এবং সক্রিয় রাখে।


(c) What is philately? What difficulty would you face if you take up philately?

ফিলাটেলি কী? আপনি যদি ফিলাটেলি গ্রহণ করেন তবে আপনার কী অসুবিধা হবে?

Ans: The Collecting and study of stamps is called philately.

উত্তর: ডাকটিকিট সংগ্রহ এবং অধ্যয়নকে ডাকটিকিট সংগ্রহ বলা হয়।

(d) What is Irfan's Hobby? What does he like to do?

ইরফানের শখ কী? সে কী করতে পছন্দ করে?
    
Ans: Irfan Hobby is painting.  He liked to paint sit and landscapes.

উত্তর: ইরফান শখের ছবি আঁকা। তিনি সিট এবং ল্যান্ডস্কেপ আঁকা পছন্দ করতেন।

(e) Name a few indoor and outdoor hobbies?

কয়েকটি অভ্যন্তরীণ এবং বহিরঙ্গন শখের নাম বল?

Ans: Some Indoor hobbies are Collecting stamps and coins, listening to music and reading books etc.Some Outdoor hobbies are Gardening, travelling, Swimming, trekking, photography etc.

উত্তর: কিছু অভ্যন্তরীণ শখ হল স্ট্যাম্প এবং মুদ্রা সংগ্রহ করা, গান শোনা এবং বই পড়া ইত্যাদি। কিছু বহিরঙ্গন শখ হল বাগান করা, ভ্রমণ, সাঁতার কাটা, ট্রেকিং, ফটোগ্রাফি ইত্যাদি।

(f) What is a kitchen garden?

রান্নাঘর বাগান কী?

Ans: The Kitchen garden means we grow there Vegetables in our garden, as like tomato, Chili, Ginger, beans etc.

উত্তর: রান্নাঘরের বাগান বলতে আমরা আমাদের বাগানে সবজি, যেমন টমেটো, মরিচ, আদা, মটরশুটি ইত্যাদি চাষ করি।

(g) "Every morning I water the plants and clean the beds". - What does 'beds' mean here?
"প্রতিদিন সকালে আমি গাছপালায় জল দেয় এবং বিছানা পরিষ্কার করি"। - এখানে 'বিছানা' বলতে কী বোঝায়?

Ans: Here 'bed' means the surface ground on which plants stand.

উত্তর: এখানে 'বিছানা' বলতে সেই পৃষ্ঠভূমিকে বোঝায় যার উপর গাছপালা দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে।

2. A synonym is a word that has the same or nearly the same meaning as another word. Example: happy- Joyful.

২. সমার্থক শব্দ হলো এমন একটি শব্দ যার অর্থ অন্য শব্দের মতো বা প্রায় একই রকম। উদাহরণ: সুখী- আনন্দময়।

From the box below, choose words which are synonyms of the given words, and write each synonym next to the word in the blanks below:

নিচের বাক্স থেকে, প্রদত্ত শব্দগুলির সমার্থক শব্দগুলি বেছে নিন এবং নীচের খালি জায়গায় শব্দের পাশে প্রতিটি সমার্থক শব্দ লিখুন:

ঘ) অবসর -- অবসর সময়।

e) start-- begin, launch.

ঙ) শুরু-- শুরু, চালু করা।

f) develop-- grow.

চ) বিকাশ-- বৃদ্ধি।

Write the name of the object and the related activity in the space provided. One has been done for you.

Bicycle: Bicycling. ( সাইকেল: সাইকেল চালানো।)

Book: Reader. (বই: পাঠক।)

Pen: Writer. ( কলম: লেখক।)

Boat: Boating. ( নৌকা: নৌকাবিহার।)
