 Answer: Stress is a common psychological and physical condition experienced by individuals in daily life. It occurs when a person faces difficult situations, demands or pressures that are beyond his or her coping ability. Stress affects both physical and mental health and may disturb normal life activities. In nursing, knowledge about stress is important because it helps nurses understand patient behaviour and provide proper care.

 Definition of Stress : Stress is a state of physical, mental or emotional tension produced by internal or external pressures and demands.

Types of Stress

 Acute Stress : Acute stress is short-term stress caused by sudden events or situations. It lasts for a brief period and disappears after the situation is over. It may occur during examinations, accidents or emergencies.
Chronic Stress : Chronic stress is long-term stress that continues for a long period. It may develop due to financial problems, family conflicts, work pressure or chronic illness. Chronic stress can seriously affect health.

 Control Measures of Stress

* Proper rest and sleep – Adequate sleep helps the body and mind relax.
* Regular exercise – Exercise reduces tension and improves mental health.
* Healthy diet – Nutritious food helps maintain physical and emotional well-being.
