 "Mother, mother, I have good news", came in Meena shouting. 'What is it?' asked her mother.

"মা, মা, মোৰ ওচৰত ভাল খবৰ আছে", মীনাত চিঞৰি আহিছিল। 'এটা কী?' তাৰ মা জিজ্ঞাসা কৰাল।

"The Annual Function of our school will be held next month. Our class will present a play, that was decided today", - Meena replied. Her mother smiled and said, "Fine, that's good news. But what's the name of the play?"

"আমাৰ বিদ্যালয়ৰ বাৰ্ষিক অনুষ্ঠান অহা মাহত অনুষ্ঠিত হ'ব। আমাৰ শ্ৰেণীয়ে এখন নাটক উপস্থাপন কৰিব, যিটো আজি সিদ্ধান্ত লোৱা হৈছিল", - মীনাই উত্তৰ দিছিল। তাইৰ মাকে হাঁহি হাঁহি ক'লে, "ঠিক আছে, এইটো এটা ভাল খবৰ। কিন্তু নাটকখনৰ নাম কি?"

"We'll play 'Jerengar Sati'. And do you know, I will perform the role of Joymati? Is it not wonderful?" Meena felt excited a bit. Her mother hugged her. "Oh dear, it is really good news. But you will have to understand the role first, then only will you be able to perform properly"

"আমি 'জেৰেংগাৰ সতী' খেলিম। আৰু আপুনি জানেনে, মই জয়মতীৰ চৰিত্ৰটো পৰিৱেশন কৰিম? এইটো আচৰিত নহয় নেকি?" মীনাই অলপ উত্তেজিত অনুভৱ কৰিছিল। তাইৰ মাকে তাইক সাৱটি ধৰিছিল। "ওহ ডিয়াৰ, এইটো সঁচাকৈয়ে ভাল খবৰ। কিন্তু আপুনি প্ৰথমে ভূমিকাটো বুজিব লাগিব, তেতিয়াহে আপুনি সঠিকভাৱে প্ৰদৰ্শন কৰিবলৈ সক্ষম হ'ব"।

        Meena said promptly, "I know the story of Joymati. She was a brave woman, and thought for the good of her motherland." Her mother nodded, "Yes my child, she was a real patriot. She wanted to save the country from the misrule of the 'Lora Raja', the Child King. So she sent her husband into hiding".

        মীনাই তৎক্ষণাৎ ক'লে, "মই জয়মতীৰ কাহিনী জানো। তেওঁ এগৰাকী সাহসী মহিলা আছিল আৰু মাতৃভূমিৰ মঙ্গলৰ বাবে চিন্তা কৰিছিল।" তাইৰ মায়ে মূৰ দুপিয়াই ক'লে, "হয় মোৰ সন্তান, তাই এগৰাকী প্ৰকৃত দেশপ্ৰেমী আছিল। তাই দেশখনক 'লোৰা ৰাজা'ৰ অপশাসনৰ পৰা ৰক্ষা কৰিব বিচাৰিছিল, শিশু ৰজা। গতিকে তাই তাইৰ স্বামীক লুকাই পঠিয়াইছিল"।

    Meena said, "I know, I know. Gadapani was her husband, and he fled to the Naga Hills. But the Child King summoned her. His men tortured her in an open field named Jerenga. She didn't tell them about her husband, and so they killed her. Oh mother, it is a sad story."

    মীনাই ক'লে, "মই জানো, মই জানো। গদাপাণি তেওঁৰ স্বামী আছিল, আৰু তেওঁ নাগা পাহাৰলৈ পলাই গৈছিল। কিন্তু চাইল্ড কিংয়ে তাইক মাতি পঠিয়াইছিল। তেওঁৰ মানুহে তাইক জেৰেঙ্গা নামৰ এখন মুকলি পথাৰত অত্যাচাৰ কৰিছিল। তাই তেওঁলোকক তাইৰ স্বামীৰ বিষয়ে কোৱা নাছিল, আৰু সেয়েহে তেওঁলোকে তাইক হত্যা কৰিছিল। হে মা, এইটো এটা দুখৰ কাহিনী।"

    Her mother hugged her, and said, "Look Meena, Joymati was a Sati, a great woman. Her sacrifice was not in vain. At last the Child King was removed and Gadapani became the king. Gadapani was a good king. Even today, people remember Joymati. There are Joysagar and Joydaul in Sivasagar in her memory.

   তাইৰ মাকে তাইক সাৱটি ধৰি ক'লে, "দেখো মীনা, জয়মতী এগৰাকী সতী, এগৰাকী মহান মহিলা আছিল। তাইৰ ত্যাগ বৃথা নাছিল। অৱশেষত চাইল্ড কিংক আঁতৰাই দিয়া হয় আৰু গদাপাণি ৰজা হয়। গদাপাণি এজন ভাল ৰজা আছিল। আজিও মানুহে জয়মতীক স্মৰণ কৰে। তাইৰ স্মৃতিত সিংহগৰ আৰু জয়দৌল আছে।

    Meena felt very happy. She would perform a big role in the play. She would try to express the feeling of Joymati. Surely Acharyaa would guide her.

    Her mother patted her and said smiling "Certainly my child, I will. But now let's take our lunch. Aren't you hungry?"
