c) What happened when Seema met the lady at the office of the NGO?

Ans: When Seema met the lady of the NGO, she talked about her hopes of setting up a small business. Then the lady showed her the women who were working there in blue sarees and aprons and had Brave Mothers embossed on their dress. The lady also explained to Seema that their NGO was a self help group.
সীমা যখন এনজিও মহিলার সাথে দেখা করেন, তখন তিনি তাকে একটি ছোট ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠার তার আশার কথা বলেন। তারপর মহিলাটি তাকে নীল শাড়ি এবং এপ্রোন পরা সেখানে কাজ করা মহিলাদের দেখালেন এবং তাদের পোশাকে সাহসী মায়েদের ছবি এঁকে দিলেন। মহিলাটি সীমাকে ব্যাখ্যা করলেন যে তাদের এনজিওটি একটি স্ব-সহায়ক গোষ্ঠী।

Ans: The women of Brave Mothers take vocational training in a variety of fields like toy making, embroidery, tailoring, culinary arts, mobile repairing etc and later given load to start their own business.
সাহসী মায়েদের নারীরা পুতুল তৈরি, সূচিকর্ম, সেলাই, রান্না, মোবাইল মেরামতের মতো বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ গ্রহণ করে এবং পরে তাদের নিজস্ব ব্যবসা শুরু করার জন্য কারিগরি প্রশিক্ষণ প্রদান করে।

Ans: The NGO helped Seema by giving the hope of providing loan with which she can set up her own business and all the problems of her life will be solved.

তুমি কি মনে করো স্বাতী একজন ভালো মেয়ে? তুমি কেন এমন মনে করো?
Ans: Yes, I think that Swati is a good daughter.
I think this way because Swati was concerned about her mother's problem and tried to console her by showing the solution of the problem. Swati was a mature girl who knows how to take responsibility of her mother.

5. Let's learn some grammar:

Look at the underlined words in the following sentences from the lesson.

The underlined words on , of and in are prepositions. A preposition is a word usually placed before a noun or a pronoun to show it's relation to a place, time, cause, purpose or means.
উপর, এর এবং মধ্যে আন্ডারলাইন করা শব্দগুলি হল অব্যয়। অব্যয় হলো এমন একটি শব্দ যা বিশেষ্য বা সর্বনামের আগে বসানো হয় এবং তাদের মধ্যে সম্পর্কের সময়, স্থান, কারণ এবং অর্থ নির্দেশ করে।
Here are some common types of preposition. They denote:

(i) The book is on the table.

(i) She will go to office in the morning.

Eg: because of, on account of, from, out of, of
i) The match had to be stopped because of the rain

d) Purpose উদ্দেশ্য
Eg: for
i) I am waiting for the taxi.

e) Means এর মাধ্যমে
Eg: by, with, on, in
i) I go to school by bus.
আমি স্কুলে বাসে যাই
।ii) I will cut the cake with this knife.

6. As you know, there are different ways of presenting the same idea. Find a sentence in the text that has the same meaning as each of the following statements. The first one has been done for you :

9. In the lesson, Swati tells her mother that she would call up the NGO 'Brave Mothers'. She would seek help from the representative from the NGO who had visited her school to create awareness on "Entrepreneurship Development and Self Reliance".

Now work in pairs. Imagine one of you is Swati's mother and the other is the lady from Brave mothers. Write a telephonic conversation between Swati's mother and the lady. Note down the conversation and enact it before the class.
