1. Read the poem and answer the following question:

   ( কবিতাটো পঢ়া আৰু তলৰ প্ৰশ্নবোৰৰ উত্তৰ দিয়া )

(a) What does the old man ask the poet?

   ( বৃদ্ধ মানুহজনে কবিক কি সুধিছিল? )

Ans:- The old man ask the poet what his land is like.

       ( বৃদ্ধ মানুহজনে কবিক তেওঁৰে ঠাইডোখৰ কেনেকুৱা সুধিছিল )

(b) Why does the old man ask the question to the poet?

    ( বৃদ্ধ মানুহজনে কিয় কবিক প্ৰশ্ন সুধিছিল? )

Ans:- The old man asks the question to the poet because he is blind.

       ( বৃদ্ধ মানুহজন অন্ধ কাৰণে কবিয়ে প্ৰশ্ন সুধিছিল। )

Ans:- The distant roll of the bihu dhol, the pepa and gogona and the heaty aroma of the pitha and laroo, the chant of the evening prayer in the namghar, masjid, church are the things that create the soul of the poet's beloved country. 

( ঢোল পেপা গগনাৰ গুমগুমনি শব্দ, লাৰু পিঠাৰ সুগন্ধি তথা নামঘৰ, মছজিদ, গীৰ্জা আদিৰ পৰা ভাঁহি অহা প্ৰাৰ্থনা তথা আজনৰ ধ্বনিয়ে আমাৰ মাতৃভূমিক আত্মা প্ৰদান কৰাৰ লগতে ইয়াক পূৰ্ণ কৰি তোলে। )

2. A brief summary of each of the stanzas of the poem has been given below. Match the stanzas with the given summaries. Mention the stanza number alongside the correct summary.

a. My native land makes me feel as safe and secure as a baby carried on a mothers back.

b. The spirit of my native land can be understood in terms of its unity in diversity. Like different family member, who have similarities and differences.

c. The lonely blind old man in the street asked me to describe our native land.

   ( ৰাস্তাত থিয় হৈ থকা অকলশৰীয়া অন্ধ বৃদ্ধজনে মোক ঠাইডোখৰৰ বৰ্ণনা দিবলৈ কৈছিল। )

d. Our native land is rich in its gift of nature and is brought to life by the birds and animals that playfully room its rich green forests.

( আমাৰ নিজৰ ঠাইখন প্ৰাকৃতিকভাৱে অতি চহকী আৰু ইয়াৰ চৰাই চিৰিকতি জীৱ জন্তুসকলোৱে অৰণ্যৰ চাৰিওফালে বিচৰণ কৰি ইয়াক জীৱন্ত কৰি তোলে। )

e. The touch of our native land is as peaceful as the coal. fresh blowing after a night of thunder and rain.

 ( আমাৰ ঠাইডোখৰৰ শান্তিময় শীতল বতাহজাক ঠিক ধুমুহাৰ পাছত অহা বতাহজাকৰ দৰেই নিৰ্মল। )

3. Note that the poem is a series of information to a blind man on what his land is like. The girl provides the information by making use of the senses that are very strong in blind persons. These senses are:

(iv) gurgling (গাৰ্গলিং) - She is playing with her mother by gurgling.

(v) chorus (কোৰাচ)-The last night chorus performance was so pleasent.

b. The man said to me, "Listen to the gurgling of that little baby.  (মানুহজনে মাক কৈছিল, "শুনাচোন সেই কেঁচুৱাটোৰ কলকলনি")

Ans:- The man requested me to listen to the gurgling of that little baby. ( মানুহজনে মোক কেঁচুৱাটোৰ কলকলনি শুনিবলৈ কৈছিল।)

c. The teacher said to us, "Enjoy your holidays."  (শিক্ষকে আমাক কৈছিল, "বন্ধবোৰ তোমালোক উপভোগ কৰিবা,"

Ans:- The teacher advised us to enjoy our holidays. (শিক্ষকে আমাক আমাৰ বন্ধবোৰ উপভোগ কৰিবলৈ কৈছিল।)

d. She said him to come to their house the next day. (তাই তাক কৈছিল,  "কাইলৈ আমাৰ ঘৰলৈ আহিবা। ")

Ans:- She told him to come to their house the next day. ( তাই তাক সিহঁতৰ ঘৰলৈ কাইলৈ যাব কৈছিল। )

e. My mother tells me, " Always obey yours teacher, (মায়ে কৈছিল, "সদায় শিক্ষকক মানি চলিবা,")

Ans:- My mother advises me to obey our teachers always. (মায়ে উপদেশ দিছিল যে সদায় শিক্ষকক মানি চলিব লাগে।)

f. I said to him, " Come to our house tomorrow." (মায়ে তাক কৈছিল, "কাইলৈ আমাৰ ঘৰলৈ আহিবা।)

Ans:- I told him to come to our house the next day.  (মায়ে তাক কৈছিল যে আমাৰ ঘৰলৈ কাইলৈ আহিবা।)

g. She said to me, "Get me a glass of water, please," (তাই মোক কৈছিল, "অনুগ্ৰহ কৰি এগিলাচ পানী  দিয়া।)

Ans:- She requested me to get her a glass of water. (তাই মোক অনুগ্ৰহ কৰি এগিলাচ পানী বিচাৰিছিল।)

h. The man said to me, "Please lose the gate." (মানুহজনে মোক কৈছিল, "অনুগ্ৰহ কৰি গেটখন বন্ধ কৰি দিয়া।")

Ans:- The man requested me to close the gate. ( মানুহজনে মোক অনুগ্ৰহ কৰি গেটখন বন্ধ কৰি দিবলৈ কৈছিল। ")
